About NUK II: the second national library
Plans for a second building for Slovenia’s National and University Library (NUK) go back decades. Its design was chosen in a 2012 architectural competition, and the last unexplored part of the site, close to Plečnik’s library of 1941, was excavated between October 2024 and April 2025. Finds from the dig are shown at the City Museum of Ljubljana.
Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with NUK II: the second national library before you go.
