Makalonca
On Plečnik’s embankment
About Makalonca
Makalonca sits right down at the water on Hribarjevo nabrežje, in a space Plečnik designed as a landing stage on the Ljubljanica; the embankment is a cultural monument of national importance. It became a bar about half a century ago and is named after Princess Makalonca from a Slovenian folk tale. There is a house beer brewed by the Mali Grad microbrewery, cocktails and burgers named after fairy-tale characters. Our advice: a drink here at sunset is one of the simple pleasures of Ljubljana.
