Bogenšperk, built in the first half of the 16th century, is considered one of Slovenia’s most beautiful castles. In 1672 it was bought by Janez Vajkard Valvasor, the polymath who wrote his great work, The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola (1689), while living here. The museum shows his study and printing workshop, Slovenia’s main geodetic collection, and collections of minerals, folk superstition, national costume and hunting. Our advice: pair it with Stična or the Carniolan Bee House.
