About Kranj
Kranj, 30 km north of Ljubljana and linked to it by train, rises above the 30-metre-deep canyon of the Kokra, with views of Triglav, Stol and Grintavec. Beneath the old town run 1,300 metres of tunnels built as a shelter in the Second World War, which you can visit on a guided tour, and the Gothic church of St Cantianus, from the early 15th century, dominates the skyline. The poet France Prešeren lived and died here, and the town remembers him on every corner. Our advice: walk the canyon path, then take the tunnel tour.
