Županova jama
Dolenjska’s finest cave
About Županova jama
Županova jama, in the forest near Grosuplje south-east of Ljubljana, is described as the most beautiful cave in the Dolenjska region. It was discovered in 1926; before then locals knew only one chamber, which they used as an ice pit. The 330-metre cave reaches a depth of 122 metres and has six chambers with abysses, tunnels, dripstones, sinter pools and ice dripstones. The fortified church of Tabor above Cerovo is 700 metres away. Our advice: a quieter, closer alternative to the big Karst caves.
