About Navje Memorial Park
Navje lies just behind the railway station, between Vilharjeva, Železna and Linhartova streets. The memorial park, landscaped in 1937–1938 to designs by Jože Plečnik and Ivo Spinčič, stands on the site of an 18th-century cemetery: when most graves were moved to Žale in 1936, the remains of a number of famous Slovenians were brought here, with tombstones set in an arcaded classicist building and along the old wall. The grave of Plečnik’s parents is one of the few that stayed. Our advice: a peaceful pause if you have time before a train.
