Lake Zbilje
Boats and birdlife on the Sava
About Lake Zbilje
Zbiljsko jezero was created in 1953, when the Sava was dammed for the hydroelectric power station at Medvode, north-west of Ljubljana. Today it is a relaxed place for a day by the water: you can hire a boat, watch the many birds that live here, and stop at the cafés and playground on the shore; the pilgrimage church of St John the Baptist stands in the village. Our advice: an easy family outing by car or train to Medvode.
