Skaručna, in the village of the same name near Vodice, about 20 km north of the centre, is one of the most talked-about inns in Slovenia. Its cooking is traditional Slovenian taken somewhere new: roasts, steaks, boiled bacon and game, served slowly, with spirits infused with herbs, unpasteurised beers, Slovenian wines and home-made apple juice and syrups.
